Mrs Hippie Eats is a gourmet grab and go restaurant. We have our fridges and freezers stocked daily with fresh, from scratch delicacies like salads, soups, casseroles. Italian and Mediterranean inspired dishes as well as our spin on classic southern favorites.
Fresh breads and baked goods served on Friday and Saturday only.
The menu changes daily, sometimes hourly, as we prepare fresh meals throughout the day. The best way to stay up-to-date is to like and follow our social media pages. Facebook and Instagram.
*Our freezer has items like lasagna, spanakopita(Greek spinach pie),Meatballs and marinara, cottage pie, Mississippi pot roast and chicken pot pies. We have pasta sauces like marinara, Alfredo and pesto. And Take and bake chocolate chip cookies.
Our fridge is will be stocked with the bulk salads like chicken, egg, Pasta salad and pimento cheese. We have meal prep items like salmon or pork tenderloin perfectly portioned for one with vegetables. We have delicious soup’s as well as fresh green salads.
*Our baked goods include items like cookies, brownies, Macarons, cannolis, banana pudding and tiramisu. On Saturday morning we have breakfast pastries like cinnamon rolls, banana bread and scones.
*Our fresh baked bread loaves come in flavors like French bread, rosemary bread, Kalamata olive bread, garlic Parmesan and cinnamon and candied pecan.
Chef Heather Bugg Ries started her culinary career in Memphis in 1999. She attended a French culinary Institute in Houston Texas for pastry. She has worked in Kitchens from the Biltmore Estate in Asheville North Carolina to Aubergine, the Inn at Hunt Phelan, Wally Joe restaurant and Yaya’s in Memphis. She has cooked at the James Beard house in New York City and staged under one of the best pastry chefs in the country in Detroit. After working in several reputable restaurants her career took a different path and she took a job as a private chef for Mike and Debbi Rose in Memphis. She worked for the Roses for several years.
After the birth of her triplets she opened the award winning LadyBugg Bakery with her family in 2010. They were voted “Best Bakery in Desoto County” for nearly a decade and Heather was voted “Best Chef in Desoto County” in 2016. They operated the bakery in Hernando for 10 years before selling it in the spring of 2020. After taking a year off , her inability to stop cooking led her to the opening of her newest venture, Mrs Hippie Eats. She will offer an ever changing menu that is a culmination of her 20+ years in the industry.
Amy Covey has been part of Heather Ries kitchen family since 2014, bringing years of experience, creativity, and steady heart to the team. Now one of the four chefs at Mrs. Hippie Eats in Hernando, Amy helps keep the scratch-made menu running smoothly every day. When the weekend rolls around, she switches gears and becomes one of the bakers behind the restaurant’s lineup of fresh sweets—treats many regulars plan their weekend around. Amy believes good food should feel homemade, welcoming, and worth coming back for.
Mari Selby joined the Hippie team in 2023 after studying culinary arts, hospitality and food & beverage management at SWTCC and establishing her chef career in Memphis. She trained under chefs at fine dining restaurants such as Jim's Place Grille, Memphis Hunt & Polo Club and Erling Jensens's. Since joining the team, Mari has become Mrs. Hippie's right hand and kitchen manager; writing menus, controlling food costs, excelling in customer service and supporting new and creative ideas.
Rebecca joined the kitchen at Mrs. Hippie Eats as a prep cook in 2025 after 12 years creating edible art as the owner of Sweet on Cakes. Every dish at Hippie starts somewhere, and Rebecca’s prep station is usually where your favorites like Chicken Pot Pie, Grape Salad and Pot Roast begin their journey to your kitchen table. When Rebecca isn’t in the kitchen you can find her working in her studio creating artwork you can find at local galleries in the area.
